Here's a pretty picture from Orhei Vechi.
I’m sitting here at the desk of power, with Sloopy climbing on my shoulders, drinking my first moost of the year. Moost is incredibly tasty grape juice that has just started fermenting. It’s very sweet, like sparkling grape juice. It can also be hard on your stomach so I’m trying to make my mug full last as long as possible.
I’ve been running hither and yon like a chicken with its head cut off for the past couple of weeks. I did end up going hiking last weekend. I miss being able to be out in nature without a house in site. We did some pretty serious climbing led by our Moldovan guide. We were amused because this guide was obviously not impeded by the same worries as an American guide would have been. No liability issues for him. That meant we did a lot of scrambling up hills on our hands and knees yelling, “Rocks!!!” as we dislodged them toward those clambering up behind us. The easiest hill to climb looked so much like the ravine in The Princess Bride that people stood at the top and yelled, “As yoooooouuuuu wiiiiiisshhhhhhhh!” We saw some beautiful waterfalls and I found a big lizard. Only one other girl from the “Action Adventure” club we formed at Saharna was there. But, KGB Nic has applied to become a member so we’re taking it under advisement.
It was too late for me to catch a ruitiera back to Causeni that night so I headed north with Ana, Adam, Nic, and Dachen. We had visions of home made hamburgers dancing in our heads but by the time we got into Belti the grocery store was closed. So, we had Russian meat and potato filled pasta instead. Bridgett was there waiting for us at Nic's appartment and we had a nice supper. Ana, Adam, and I spent the night at Ari’s apartment which is right across the street. He’s still in the States but is supposed to be back this coming weekend. He says he’s bringing more food than clothes back with him. Everybody has been requesting stuff.
Speaking of food, you will never ever be able to guess what we had for breakfast! Nope…no…not that. Give up?
All I can say is I look forward to my next visit to Belti.

I was at work Monday and Tuesday. I am collecting quite a few English students. I’m happy about that, I just need to get them organized and into time slots. Five girls came by on Tuesday to ask about studying English together. It’s better that way than doing so many individual lessons. Olea has started giving me Romanian lessons starting with a 5th grade science book. That’s pretty fun. I keep forgetting the word for “ladybug” though.
Ok, earthlings. I'm gonna stop here for tonight. I'm being seriously distracted by this Russian ice skating answer to "Dancing With the Stars." Tune in tomorrow for Rach/Frodo's first grape picking experience!
