I just got off the phone with Mogie and told her that I would try to write something tonight so here I am. Not a lot to report. Working with Odyssey of the Mind on Saturday was a lot of fun. I love seeing kids full of potential and creativity. Schools here don’t have all the extra curricular activities that they do in the States so this sort of competition is extra special for them.
Meggan and I watched LOST on Saturday night. I got such a kick out of the title of the episode, “Not in Portland.” It just seems like such a great way to describe the island; it is definitely not in Portland. I enjoyed the episode although it was lacking that “ah ha!” moment I have during most episodes where I am completely surprised by something or when I suddenly see a piece of the puzzle in a way I hadn’t before. Mogie said catch up review with Damon and Carlton (the producers) was good. They are hilarious together. I know they’re happy, and I’m happy too, that the show’s gonna be on uninterrupted for so long.
One of the nice things about so many people going home for Christmas is that they come back with a bunch of new movies. I camped out on Meggan’s floor at the Turist and watched the Casino Royale, the “new” James Bond. What a change from the perfectly handsome smooth Bond we’ve grown accustomed to, a very good change. I was telling Mogie tonight that this past year was a much better year for movies than 2005. The Oscars should be interesting!
Anyway, back in the real world, I have basically finished with the grant proposal for the laptop and projector. Vitalie is gonna be down tomorrow and we’ll go over it and make sure it’s in good working order.
This is international English week so I’m gonna go visit a couple of Ion’s English classes. Nadea and I have another seminar on Thursday and Friday I have to go to Chisinau for an IRC library meeting. I’m getting tired of all this back and forth traveling. In spite of the fact I’m half a world away from my hobbit hole I am still a homebody and can only take so much running hither and yon.
